THE TEXTBOOKS’ REVOLUTION HAS BEGUN. Apple launched its iBook 2 and iBook Author, an incredible app (free, believe it or not!!) for designers and teachers so they can build their own interactive textbooks. All has to be said and, despite Apple has been involved in the last months in a patents’ war, mainly against Samsung, their last step in Digital Publishing is just amazing…really. This kind of revolutionary textbooks is what everyone was waiting since the first interactive magazines showed up.
It’s interesting, though, that some of the interactive features that we can appreciate in the video are pretty similar than those that were improved for Al Gore’s OUR CHOICE, developed by Push Pop Press, a company founded by ex Apple engineers, and now property of Facebook…
The main problem: The storage. For the “Life on earth” 51 pages sample, you need 1 gb, so imagine for 500 pages. However, i’m sure either they’ll improve this problem or sell the iPads cheaper…hmmm, no, they’ll solve the storage problem…
